This week

What a week. I will work backwards.

Saturday. I worked this morning, came home and cleaned house, then shopped my little heart out for five hours. I found great deals, very exciting. Then I found that the Flying Dutchman is coming to Pennsylvania and we are going to see him!

Friday. Jack is seven months. He is adorable. He likes peas and green beans, but not peaches. He can sit up by himself and he is getting into everything. He is still not consistent with his sleep, but thats ok.

Went to do some shopping in Wilkes barre with my sister in law and found some good deals for the kids. It normally takes an hour to get home and this day it took me three hours. THREE. HOURS. Just me and two kids. Luckily for me they were very good for the first two hours of stand still traffic and then slept for the hour of actual driving.
Jim and i went on a date to an amusement park and ran around like kids. It was so liberating to go somewhere without strollers or bags! We have no pictures because we brougt nothing but our money! No diaper bags, no bottles or sippy cups, no snacks, nothing! We ran from roller coaster to roller coaster. Pure fun.

Thursday. Lilly had preschool. Before and after school she played in the sprinkler for hours. It's her new favorite hot weather thing.

Wednesday. Swimming at my friends house for play group in our 90 degree weather.

Tuesday. My friend came to my house to fix my lawn mower and install my propane tank, she has skills. Then she taught me how to mow my lawn, i mowed my first lawn! Then I grilled hot dogs and corn for dinner on our new grill.

Monday. Our new grill came today, very exciting.

Tri, tri, and tri again

Jim completed his third sprint triathlon today. I was very proud of him and very happy that I was not participating in the race. Lilly and I cheered him on and Jack kind of cried, he was pretty tired. Jim killed on the course and passed a ton of people on the bike.

Other race highlights:
1. The guy who came in first went out and completed the 5K run two more times, I think the race kind of bored him.

2. One guy who was very fit did the entire race barefoot. It made us smile and think of our friend Eric who runs barefoot as well. Both are fast runners!

3. Lilly waited for her daddy to come in and ran to the finish line with him. (Blurry, cropped photo of the race to the finish line)

After all the excitement Jim came home and took a 4 hour nap while Lilly played her heart out in the yard and at a birthday party. We had dinner with some friends and tried in vain to pick up a grill that we ordered.

Next triathlon for Jim is in August, I am going to do it as a relay. We'll see what other races the summer brings.

Swing

My friends at the yarn shop upgraded to a new swing set for their daughter and passed on their old swing set to us. Thus making the swing to person ratio very high in our family, making us pretty popular with the kids in the neighborhood.

I can't think of a better gift for a child then a swing set. Thank you!

Last Week

Last weekend my brother came to town to stay with us. We had so much fun! My mom and Scott came up on Saturday for the day and we all went to the local amusement park. I got to ride a roller coaster and that made everything better! Of course I forgot my camera along with the diaper bag, bottles, formula, etc. Jack lasted a few hours until he was really hungry. I searched high and low for some yogurt or applesauce, but amusement parks don't sell that stuff. So I fed him Italian Ice, it was watermelon flavored so I am sure it was very nutritious.

At the end of the day Jim, Lilly, Oliver, and I played with the Aerobie for hours. It got stuck in a really high tree and Oliver climbed so high into that tree that we couldn't see him for awhile. He finally rescued the frisbee and we called it quits with the Aerobie. Then the boys played basketball until dark and we all loved having a day outside where we felt like kids again.

Then on Sunday my oldest and dearest friend, Heather, came to visit. She just left this morning and we're all a little sad because it was a wonderful visit. Heather took a ton of pictures and so I actually have some photos of the week.

Sunday I taught Heather to knit. That is the risk you take when you visit me, I make you learn how to knit. Heather is a pro knitter now, she made a hat and started an afghan while she was here. Another convert!

Monday Heather and I went to Zumba and then watched Lilly's swim lesson, where she dutifully took a ton of pictures.

Tuesday we went to the yarn shop while Lilly was at preschool and had a huge take out dinner from Panera. Delicious! Heather took lots of cute photos of Lilly and played with her outside. She was a great play mate for Lilly.

Wednesday we made the trip to Hershey so we could go to Chocolate World! We sampled chocolate and bought chocolate souveniers. Doesn't get much better than that. We also met up with Angel and her girls and ate lunch at Isaacs. Isaacs is my new favorite place, they make sandwiches on the most delicious pretzel rolls. I dream about those pretzel rolls. Then we watched Fever Pitch so we could all be excited for baseball season and we ate gourmet cupcakes.

As all things, the fun had to come to an end and Heather had to go back home. Now Lilly is playing outside on this beautiful day with the neighbor kids while I catch up on my blog, laundry, dish and get back to real life.

Cinco de Mayo FIESTA

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo with our niece Sage. She was born on May 5th making her birthday a fiesta. Here is a picture of Lilly with her adorable cousin Emma at the party and then a picture of Jack matching Grandpa Pit. I of course forgot to bring my camera so these pictures are from my sister in law. They had delicious Mexican food that I couldn't get enough of, I love a good fiesta!

Mainely Maine

I think I cried a little when I realized that I deleted all the pictures from my trip. First there was complete disbelief. Surely if the card was going to be totally erased a message would have popped up that said "Are you sure you want to delete all your pictures and lose your memories of your wonderful trip?" Then I would have said no. Even if it had said, this will delete pictures, I would have stopped. It said nothing, just deleted everything.

I am coming to terms with it slowly. We had about 20 minutes left in our trip and got about 10 pictures in.

The always cliche "Keep off the grass" picture
This is the picture my brother took of Jim hugging me telling me it was ok that I lost ALL the pictures.

May update

It has been very busy around here. I better write down what i can remember before it falls out of my brain completly. We went to Maine at the end of April to visit my Brother and well...Maine. It was beautiful. We saw lighthouses and historical landmarks and took over 300 pictures. We took so many pictures that we ran out of space on my memory card. I went to change the mega pixel setting on the camera to make room for more picture, instead I hit the reformat button only to find that it reformatted the card and erased all 300+ pictures, thus eliminating my earlier problem of a filled memory card.

We have been gone every weekend for what seems like forever, and i am looking forward to staying home for a few weeks before our summer traveling begins.

Last week the children and i went to visit my sister and her family down in dc for a few days. We went to the zoo and ate lots of good food and watched lots of good movies.

Lilly has started swim lessons and I finished up a running clinic. Jim is thinking about doing a local triathlon next week and Lilly wants to sign up for soccer for the fall. We are all enjoying the warmer weather.

Jackson is a crawling machine, at least the scooting crawling, he is into everything and is trying really hard to push himself up into the sitting position. He is so happy and a very lovable baby. He has mercifully been sleeping 12 hours the past few nights, hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Last summer I painted lilly's room yellow and have hated it ever since. I repainted her room yesterday in what I believed to be the palest pink possible, only to find out that it wasn't the palest pink at all, by any stretch of the imagination. I wanted a pink so pale that you wouldn't really be sure if it was pink or a cream color. Nope, we have serious pink going on. It's a little cliche, but she likes it and I don't hate it, so victory.

We are now just trying to survive life as it roars past us. The garden and yard need tending and our back yard is calling out for a grill so we can barbecue all summer long.

I hope that grill comes soon!
