Indulge me

Indulge me in pictures of my baby swinging, dirty summer feet and all.

I am sitting here appreciating the beautiful summer weather and so happy that it is not February. Happy to watch my children joyfully play outside as long as I will let them without coats, gloves, hats, etc. Thank goodness for warm weather!

It might look like he has some product in his hair, but he doesn't.  He had just recently dumped juice on his head, or Lilly dumped it on his head, I can't get a straight answer out of either of them.

Here Lilly gets caught sucking her thumb. You might recall my thumb sucking post.  No doubt she will be angry about this when she is a teenager.

Jack was laughing away as he tried to balance on the swing.  Jim caught him a few times falling off the swing.

Summer Happenings

On Wednesday the ice cream truck came right to our front yard. It was very exciting for Lilly (and myself).  Jack didn't quite get it until we pulled out the Popsicle, then he was excited too.  They sat on the porch licking every last drop of Popsicle. (Lilly, in her PJs still sick.)

On Thursday we found this lone animal cracker that didn't have a chance against the ants on our porch.

Today Jack confiscated the i-pad and watched General Conference. Such righteousness!

As soon as Lilly woke up this morning she pulled out a basket, made some sandwiches, packed some juice boxes, and announced that we were going on a picnic for breakfast.  Since she had made the preparations I did not argue.  We sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful picnic for almost two hours.  It was so enjoyable that no one thought to get a camera to capture the moments.  Jack just sat in my lap while Lilly and I guessed what color car might drive by next.  Perfect summer morning.

Sick

In case you're wondering (like my mom) why I have so much free time lately to be crafting and blogging, it's because we are all home sick with a horrible cold.  The children and I did not leave the house today until after 5pm.

With that said; here is my final blog/craft for the day. I am now caught up on all my projects and events (until I finish the next baby egg).

I made these little baby uggs for a sweet friend who just had a baby girl.  I was told in no uncertain terms by a 16 year old that ONLY girls can wear uggs.  I wasn't really confused on that issue, but I am glad it has been clarified.

Baby Egg

I crocheted my first baby egg with some leftover chunky yarn.   It needs to be deeper, but I ran out of yarn.  I am going to buy some yarn and a bigger hook to make this little baby egg again.  I literally stole my friends baby just to see if I could stuff him into the egg. We didn't even bother with wardrobe changes or lighting. I am that impatient. It would have been a lot cuter to have a naked baby, but they were on their way to the doctor,  maybe next time.

thanks again to baby theo for letting me stuff him into the egg.

Back in the groove

After a few months off, I am back in the crafting groove. I crocheted a little baby hat and some booties for  baby Theo.

Over the weekend I also made a little baby egg.  Later this week we are going to see if we can't stuff baby Theo into the egg and get some cute pictures.

Isn't Theo adorable?

Father's Day

I am grateful for all the wonderful Father's I know, especially mine and my husband.

I could not have asked for a better father for my children than Jim.

He is a wonderful father.  A little known fact: A few times a week Jim runs into a fairy on the way home from work and this fairy gives him candy to take home to Lilly.  Every day she asks if the fairy gave him any candy that day.  Most days the fairy did.

He changes diapers, gives baths, works hard, provides for our family, loves unconditionally, and is a wonderful father.

Happy Father's Day!

Girls Night Out

I mentioned in my BBQ post that a bunch of my friends and I escaped to Knoebels. Leaving the cleaning and child care to the men.

It was a fantastic night.  We ran around like school girls, giggling, telling stories, and having a blast.  We rode roller coasters, did the haunted house, and ate fries and funnel cakes.

The next day we were all exhausted.  We realized that we might be a bit old to run around riding rides until 10:30 at night, but we had a blast.

A fond farewell

Our dear friends moved away today.  I hate it when people move.

We had a farewell/father's day breakfast for the Wheelers and Jim did the cooking (honestly, he is the better cook).  He made crepes which were gobbled up and I made eggs and bacon which were left for cold.

Britten took some pictures of the children with her awesome camera.  I accidentally kept her memory card with all her amazing pictures on it. So she will have to fly back next week to get it from me. Sorry, that's how I roll.

Annie and Lilly

We will all miss our friends. However, we don't say goodbye, just see you next time.

BBQ

We had an awesome BBQ at my house last night. Some 50 people came.
I didn't think my yard could hold that many people, but it did.

Here is my super awesome friend that is moving. Sad, sad.  You might remember her from re-doing my basement, keeping my kids so I could go to NYC, and in general being awesome.

As you can see Jim had a great time too.

Lilly had a blast with the neighbors and all the kids.

As the BBQ came to a close the women decided be spontaneous, ditch our husbands and kids, and head to the amusement park for roller coasters and funnel cake. Best. Night. Ever.

(Don't tell our kids that's where we went)

Cozy in the summer

Jack and Lilly have taken to cuddling together to watch a cartoon on the i-pad.  Of course, Jack must be the one to hold the i-pad and Lilly just rolls with it.

They cozied up in this chair together for a good 20 minutes to watch the latest installment of that show about some talking dog.

This week

I ran down my friends mail box.  I wasn't even on my cell phone.  At least that could have been a lesson in safety for everyone.

Nope.

I was just driving in reverse out of my friends driveway.  I felt the car veer, but didn't correct it. I figured if I drove on the grass it was no big deal. My car veered straight into her wooden mail post and knocked it right in two (and smashed the mail box).  I swear it came out of nowhere.

It was one of those moments where my instincts told me to hide the evidence.  A mailbox that has been flattened is hard to hide. Not to mention the dent in my bumper. Sigh.

However, I am in the process of repairing the situation.  I bought a "sorry I ran down your mail box" present for my friend.  I then had someone else dig out the cement (thanks Britten) of the previous post.  I had someone else put the post in and mix the cement (thanks Tim). Hopefully tomorrow Jim will screw in the mailbox board and mail box (thanks Jim). Then hopefully the trash man will take away the broken down mailbox post (thanks trash man).

So as you can see, I have taken care of it.

No other news. My summer piano lessons are off to a start, and our social schedule is filling up very fast.

Summer Time

School's out....for summer.  Let the fun begin.

Or, you might say, figure out how to entertain your kids all day every day.

I say, that's not my job.  Let the pool do the work for you.

Water, food, total exhaustion, followed by early bedtime, done. Take that summer vacation.

My Piano

Before....

I found an amazing piano for an amazing price on craigslist.  Here is my picture story of how it came to be in my house.
