Jack's birthday

October 28, 2014. Jack's 5th birthday!

I ordered this spiderman lego cake from my friend, Molly.  It was the hit of Jack's birthday.

His birthday was unseasonably warm, which made it the perfect day to play outside with friends and test out his new glider bike.

Lucy (who rips her hair bows out regularly), loved being outside with the big kids.

Jack on his new bike.

Historically, crazy hair day at the Danville schools falls on Jack's birthday.

Jack picked pizza for his dinner and Lucy took the party outside.

Don't worry, she stuck that slice of pizza IN the car she was riding on so it would be safe for later.

Jack and our neighbor Larissa on their matching glider bikes.

The night of Jack's birthday was also the NASA launch, we were outside waiting for it and I grabbed some pictures.  Sadly it crashed (no one was hurt) and we were not able to see it in Danville.

Happy birthday my sweet boy. My 5 year old loves Legos and puzzles, bikes and shows, his family and school. His favorite food is pizza and chicken. He drinks only milk and water and is still rather particular  about everything he eats. Currently he insists on having his pants and sleeves rolled up so they don't touch his ankles and wrists. He loves to play with his sisters and follows along with any game Lilly wants to play. He is learning to write and for the first time has taken an interest in coloring and writing letters. He is also more interested in stories and will let us read to him. He is most definitely a lego and puzzle genius, much like his older sister. You can find him playing Legos any time of the day. We love our Jack.

A Knoebels Halloween

Every fall Knoebels is open for a few weekends for their Halloween fest. Everything is decorated for Halloween and the rides are haunted.  Good fun during the day time for kids. This year, my neighbor and I took our kids together while the husbands worked.

Lucy was not amused and pretty much looked like this all day.

Pumpkin patch field trip

Lucy and I joined Jack on his field trip to the pumpkin patch.  What a cute day. Thank you iPhone for all the pictures.

End of October

I have been avoiding blogging because I am so behind (which is one of the true traits of a proficient procastinator).  The end of this October seemed extra busy this year because I broke my finger and happened into a horrific migraine cycle that lasted 36 days.  As I type this post, my finger is healed, although still very weak, and I've been headache free for over 10 days. Broken fingers and migraines are as good an excuse as any for tardy blogging, right??

For anyone who doesn't know, I slipped in the rain and caught my fall with my ring finer on my left hand.  It was quite painful.

We wore shorts as long as we could as the seasons changed.  This summer was especially hard to give up! Lucy's new favorite thing is to run up and down the street in an independent fashion.

I am obsessed with taking pictures of medical freak show things.

Some days Lucy wears herself out so much that she just takes a short break on the floor.

My sweet Lilly girl wanted to be a princess for Halloween. She hasn't been interested in princesses in 4 years so I was thrilled that she begged me to be Elsa. Lucy enjoyed carrying her train around.

Along with the Elsa costume, Grandma also sent Jack this stuffed Olaf. He's a new favorite.

I know we're in full thanksgiving mode, but I haven't even posted Halloween pictures.  Soon!!

Jack's PRESCHOOL birthday

The last week in October is very busy for us.  We seem to have endless Halloween celebrations in conjunction with birthday celebrations for Jack.
Jack's preschool devotes the entire day to the birthday child.  You have to sign up at the beginning of the school year for their birthday party and the entire family is invited.

Lucy joined in for a day of school, the letter of the day was J.
All the kids had to print Jack for their assignment.

All the kids drew a picture and assembled a special birthday card book.

Jack then pointed to all the letters in his name for all the kids to see.

Then Jack decorated his crown with Mrs. Baylor, who founded the school 45 years ago, but does not currently teach the class.  King Jack ruled the rest of the day and handed out his cupcakes through this special stand to each child.  Everyone got a candle, while Jack got 5 candles.

Here is Jack handing a cupcake to his buddy and next door neighbor, Larissa, with his teacher, Ms. Debbie, assisting.

Jack requested multi colored cupcakes, so I labored and toiled and made camo cupcakes.  It was from a mix, but still hard work.

Then Jack led the birthday parade.  All the kids had to follow Jack, the leader.  He waddled like a penguin, so they all waddled like penguins.

Then King Jack paraded around the school and they sang to him multiple times.  What a completely magical day for Jack (and me).
