Visit
My mom came to visit this weekend. We had a wonderful time. She bought my children fancy clothing, and bought all of us yummy treats to eat. She bought me some fabric to make a skirt for myself, but being the sweet mother that she is, she made it for me. It reminds me of my childhood when she would make me beautiful dresses for my birthday and Easter.
Thanks for the Easter outfits!
Getaway
A few weeks ago I made a mid-February escape to an indoor water park. Some good friends took me and the kids for a night getaway in the Poconos. It was wonderful! Sadly Jim had to stay home and work (sorry Jim - you're a good man to work so hard).
We stuck the babies in the pack n play next to the water slides. They were so tired, they couldn't fight it any longer.
We ate a lot of delicious food played in the water all day and had a great time. The kids even slept in a "cabin". What a great way to have a break from the winter blahs.
On another note I am out of projects that inspire me. I think I need to find a good book to read and let my hands rest; at least for a few days.

Historical Fiction Reading Challenge
I happened onto this Historical Fiction challenge. I am going to attempt it because I really dislike historical fiction and thought that this might change my mind.
I am attempting level 5, "Out of my comfort zone" or reading 2 historical fiction books this year.
The levels range from 2-20 books in 2011. As you can see I am really pushing myself (sarcasm)
Join me in this challenge or at least tell me a historical fiction book that I will love.

More blogging
Last week we had two days of lovely weather. I took Jackson outside for his first walk. It was literally the first time he had ever walked outside with his own two feet. He explored the sidewalk and house, picked up a stick, and headed to the back of the house. In true boy fashion he found a spot to sit amongst trash and recylcing bins. He hit things with a stick and just enjoyed the warm weather. He heard our neighbors playing and reached his tiny hands in their direction. He just couldn't figure out how to manuever the ice and grass to get to them.
I could just spend my day editing photos and blogging, but sadly my house is in disarray and my Lilly is home from school due to snow. Our warm days are over and we are covered in snow again.
It was a true delight to have two warm days in the middle of February.
On an unrelated note I did finish my socks. They took forever and had to be worked on tiny little needles. Similar to toothpicks. Well not really that small, but you get the idea.
It will probably be a really long time before I make socks again.
They are warm and soft with funky colors. Perfect for a snowy day at home.

Bedding
In December I happened onto the blog Kojo Designs.
Kojo posted a tutorial on some fantastic bedding that I instantly fell in love with.
Here is a picture of her amazing design and creation.
I told myself that after the holidays I would start the anthropologie inspired bedding project.
I didn't think I would follow through.
But I did.
Here is my version of the Kojo anthropologie inspired bedding.
Kojo has the entire tutorial on her blog here.
I started by cutting 56 squares of jersey knit sheets.
I hand sewed 56 knots.
I then added 5 pleats to each side of 56 squares and assembled.
It is the first step in my bedroom makeover.
Ignore the other elements of my room. Focus on the bedding, but not the pillows, I am going to change the pillows.
It took me almost two months and now I am done.
