May Day!

Well. This month. I don't know what to say.  In past years I discovered that May is almost as busy as December, if not more, with end of the year events. End of the year events also coincide with beginning of the summer events such as, swim team, swim lessons, and t-ball, which makes for crazy.. I knew this month was going to be a tricky juggling balance but I knew I could handle it and come out the other end fine.
Well. If this was a novel, the foreshadowing would have been embarrassingly obvious.
Some point in the middle of the May insanity I started cleaning out my basement to take advantage of our neighbor's dumpster that she offered to share.  Long story shorter, I hit myself in the head with a 5 gallon bucket of paint and gave myself a severe concussion.  I had to cancel my last week of piano lessons and barely made it to my spring recital.  I spent 3 days in bed not moving with full brain rest (no TV, computer, texting, reading, knitting, etc.). Then I was able to slowly resume life.  It felt like I lost a full week of my life. I thought it was a big lesson learned on slowing down my life.
The following week was pretty hectic and I was still trying to get my way with bronchitis and a sinus infection that hit me during my concussion. Then that Thursday morning I got an awful phone call that my Grandma Russell had died, quite unexpectedly to me.  Thoughts began to move towards funeral arrangements, but first I had to pick up Lilly for her orthodontist appt. After the appt. we came home and I let her miss the last hour of school. That was a blessing because at 2:41 a hail storm and tornado warnings hit Danville like I have never seen.  Both of our cars were trashed, and we have damage to our siding, gutters, window sills, and had our lights blown out.  Then of course two days later I left for Utah for my grandmother's funeral.  So here I sit on May 30 in a bit of post traumatic shock and exhaustion. We are now packing to leave for Canada as a family and I am wondering just how we survived.

This is a short post because I don't quite have the energy to flush out any more details.  I just am sad that I haven't updated all the great photos I have to share.  Soon! I am so grateful that we are all healthy and safe and that we have good insurance.  This month has been filled with blessings and I am grateful.

More Lucy birthday

Jim's dad walked in and Lucy was checking him out.  I think she was looking for a present.

My Lucy girl is one of the most easy going and good natured babies. At her one year check up she was in the 75th percentile for weight, which is the highest any of our children have ever hit! She was just below 22 lbs, and I think 18th percentile for height which adds to the adorable rolls.

Her main way of getting around is army crawl, she is the fastest army crawler you've ever seen.  She has just in the past week or two started getting up on her knees. She pulls herself up and gets into everything.

Lucy had zero teeth until her 11th month.  Now they are all coming in at once and she is pretty miserable.  Poor Lucy girl.

That girl loved her cake, which my expert cake making friend made for Lucy.

Lucy is 1!

Lucy turned 1 on April 14. She is a lovely baby and is an absolute joy.

Jim and I always go about documenting important moments by different methods.  He likes to take hundreds of pictures in rapid succession to create a time lapse movie. I like to take some pictures and video.  So in this first installment of Lucy documentation we have Jim's time lapse.  I added in the song because I sing it to my girls, taking out any romantic implications.  Jim said it wasn't THAT lame. Like I said, we have different artistic approaches.

More soon.

Easter

Well. My Easter pictures didn't work out how I imagined.  We were late and rushed, the kids still had wet hair from late baths, and I attempted to shoot in camera modes other than auto while in a rush.  Oh well. You can kind of see their outfits, and you can definitely tell they were clean for Easter Sunday.

Here is the only photo that was not blurry of all three children.  We had to subdue Lucy with an ice breakers container. Which she is looking at, while ignoring the camera.

Jim's parents joined us for Easter dinner. Jack climbed all over Jim's dad like he was a jungle gym.
 It was pretty cute.

No pictures of myself, Jim, or his mom.  Maybe next time?

Editing

Tonight in my photography class we are editing photos from the weeks assignment.  I am going to post as I edit since I can't save any of the images to the lap top that is not mine.

I did not edit her eyes, but the settings I used seem to bring out the blue.

Lucy loves her siblings, she is looking at her big sister.

Jack has magic eyes. Like mine. They change with the weather. Well not really the weather, but some days they are blue, or green, or grey, or multi colored. Sometimes they have gold in the center.  Just like me.

Lucy has true blue eyes. Through and through.

Lilly girl has magic eyes with blues and greys, and the occasional green. Like her dad.

My sweet babies are all happy to pose for me, for now. I know my time is limited.

Art Contest

Lilly's art was chosen, with some of her peers, to represent the Danville Primary School downtown to "think spring" by the Danville Arts Council.

We're very proud!
