That's not some clever title I came up with, it really is turkey season. As in, hunting. How do I know this? Because some crazy turkey flew up at our car. How did I know it was a turkey? Because last week I took Lilly to the zoo where we saw a turkey, enabling me to quickly identify said crazy huge bird that flew up across our car. We almost hit it and smashed in our windshield, but we didn't. Crazy, crazy 20-40lb turkey.
Jim's co-worker hit two turkeys. Not at once, but two separate times. They ate the second one and said it was good. Crazy turkeys.
Apparently the turkeys are always around but it is mating season and they are being hunted which I guess just makes them extra crazy.
Our neighbors also have hit a few turkeys, but they hunt them and eat them too, so they don't mind as much.
For the record I would not eat a turkey I hit with my car. I don't think I can eat turkey anymore, period.

oh my goodness can you imagine the process of getting the turkey from road kill to oven ready? UGH! that would be so upsetting, and like pulling the gizzards out isn't upsetting enough. I don't like knowing that meat is an animal... let's pretend it grows like potatoes.
must be a Pennsylvania thing? I've never heard of this before. I didn't know turkeys had mating seasons! Your blog is just a fountain of information.
And I had the same experience with hitting a deer as Kimberly, only it was the highway patrolman who asked if we wanted the deer. Same thing, What?! NO! and before the tow truck arrived to take our car away, the patrolman's brothers were there putting the deer in the back of a pickup. I guess you wouldn't need a pickup for a turkey.
eww, yuck...turkey roadkill...I agree with J--I would rather any meat that I eat NOT remind me that it was once alive. Glad you guys are ok!
i agree with your sister!
Liz,
You are one of the best blogs I love to read! you are so gosh darn funny! I would probably not want to eat a turkey either if I almost hit one with my car! I miss you guys! Hope you have fun moving into your new house!
That is craziness! I don't blame you for not wanting to eat a turkeY!
So instead of tame deers running in front of you, you've got wild turkeys jumping out in front of you car? How crazy! Glad you were able to identify it :)
