Birthday Party

(Yes, my week has been THIS crazy that I need THIS many blog posts to remember it by).

We were able to pull off a successful first birthday party for Jack.

Birthday Surprise

I was rather apprehensive about Jack's birthday.  It was the start of a lot of tough times, and I was kind of nervous for the reminder.  On the day of his actual birthday I was a little sad.  Where did my year go?  Where did my baby go?  Why am I getting so old??

Then a wonderful surprise happened. In my mail box I found a package from Sarah Jane Studios.  I opened it up and found the most lovely print of September.  There was no card and no message.  Just a wonderful surprise for me on Jack's birthday.

Some lovely person surprised me early with an item from my Christmas wish list.

I called my Jim, my dad, and my mom to see if they had sent it. They all agreed it had not been them.  So thank you to my new favorite person who made a hard day happy and fun.

Happy Birthday Jackson Boy!

Thursday and Friday

Thursday night was our towns Halloween parade.  It started at 7 and went pretty late, we left around 8:30, making all of us exhausted the next morning.  Friday, the morning of her school party, Lilly decided that her costume for this year did not fit at all and she needed a new costume. 45 minutes before school started.  Secretly I was thrilled. I really wanted her to be a fairy princess (if you know me, you're probably surprised at that), but it's the truth.  I wanted my little girl to be as frilly as it gets.  I immediately got the tutu that my sister made and added wings and a lot of pink and I give you Halloween costume #2.

The poor thing was so tired I couldn't get her to take pictures outside or to even look directly at the camera.

The only time she looked at me was with these goofy teeth.

Field Trip Day

Last Wednesday was Lilly's first official school field trip.  On a bus, with chaperone's, to a pumpkin patch.  This was a BIG deal.

Lilly rode the school bus with her friends and teachers while I drove behind the bus with some of the other mom's to the pumpkin patch.

We arrived to a dreary fall day and took a really long hay ride.  I want to say it was 45 minutes.  We had a tour of the apple cleaning and washing station and learned all about cider, apple sauce, etc.  We picked out pumpkins, played at the play land and headed home.  I was completely exhausted (I think Lilly was too).

Follow up

The lady who owns the yarn shop I frequent gave Jack this sweater that she made.  It means a lot to me because I know how much work went into it.

After my Knitting Woes post I started knitting the next night. Jim was surprised and said "I thought you were done with knitting!"

I guess I should clarify, I am never done with knitting forever. Just for a night or two.  I took a solid 24 hours off and knitted for about 20 minutes then took another solid 24 hours off.  That is a lot of time off in the world of knitting.

Last week was too busy to be knitting anyway.  Stay tune for our Halloween/Birthday round up.

Knitting woes

It's 2am and i can't sleep. Jack has been awake with teething pain and I am left awake pondering my ever growing to do list while everyone else sleeps.

That left my brain to ponder my knitting woes. Like i do every fall i get the bug to knit and crochet even more than i regularly do. I once again decided that i would make everyone a hand knitted or crocheted item for Christmas. I went over board buying yarn and patterns this week and now I must say I am done.

A scarf I was working on started getting wider and wider and the christmas stocking I am making just isn't working out color wise.

Sigh.

I put my knitting away tonight and declared that I was done.

I am taking a little break from my yarn. Putting the needles down and stepping away from the yarn.

Knitting woes, way better than real life woes. So goodbye to my yarn for a few days, I hope you cooperate next week.
