Visit
My mom came to visit this weekend. We had a wonderful time. She bought my children fancy clothing, and bought all of us yummy treats to eat. She bought me some fabric to make a skirt for myself, but being the sweet mother that she is, she made it for me. It reminds me of my childhood when she would make me beautiful dresses for my birthday and Easter.
Thanks for the Easter outfits!
Getaway
A few weeks ago I made a mid-February escape to an indoor water park. Some good friends took me and the kids for a night getaway in the Poconos. It was wonderful! Sadly Jim had to stay home and work (sorry Jim - you're a good man to work so hard).
We stuck the babies in the pack n play next to the water slides. They were so tired, they couldn't fight it any longer.
We ate a lot of delicious food played in the water all day and had a great time. The kids even slept in a "cabin". What a great way to have a break from the winter blahs.
On another note I am out of projects that inspire me. I think I need to find a good book to read and let my hands rest; at least for a few days.

Historical Fiction Reading Challenge
I happened onto this Historical Fiction challenge. I am going to attempt it because I really dislike historical fiction and thought that this might change my mind.
I am attempting level 5, "Out of my comfort zone" or reading 2 historical fiction books this year.
The levels range from 2-20 books in 2011. As you can see I am really pushing myself (sarcasm)
Join me in this challenge or at least tell me a historical fiction book that I will love.

More blogging
Last week we had two days of lovely weather. I took Jackson outside for his first walk. It was literally the first time he had ever walked outside with his own two feet. He explored the sidewalk and house, picked up a stick, and headed to the back of the house. In true boy fashion he found a spot to sit amongst trash and recylcing bins. He hit things with a stick and just enjoyed the warm weather. He heard our neighbors playing and reached his tiny hands in their direction. He just couldn't figure out how to manuever the ice and grass to get to them.
I could just spend my day editing photos and blogging, but sadly my house is in disarray and my Lilly is home from school due to snow. Our warm days are over and we are covered in snow again.
It was a true delight to have two warm days in the middle of February.
On an unrelated note I did finish my socks. They took forever and had to be worked on tiny little needles. Similar to toothpicks. Well not really that small, but you get the idea.
It will probably be a really long time before I make socks again.
They are warm and soft with funky colors. Perfect for a snowy day at home.

Bedding
In December I happened onto the blog Kojo Designs.
Kojo posted a tutorial on some fantastic bedding that I instantly fell in love with.
Here is a picture of her amazing design and creation.
I told myself that after the holidays I would start the anthropologie inspired bedding project.
I didn't think I would follow through.
But I did.
Here is my version of the Kojo anthropologie inspired bedding.
Kojo has the entire tutorial on her blog here.
I started by cutting 56 squares of jersey knit sheets.
I hand sewed 56 knots.
I then added 5 pleats to each side of 56 squares and assembled.
It is the first step in my bedroom makeover.
Ignore the other elements of my room. Focus on the bedding, but not the pillows, I am going to change the pillows.
It took me almost two months and now I am done.
Up and Running
I am back online. After my computer crashed my ipad crashed leaving me completely offline.
We are up and running again.
I have a new computer and a fixed ipad and all is right in the world.

Happy Valentine's Day
I still don't have a computer to blog with and i am in serious blogging withdrawal. I love posting pictures of my daily happenings. I realize that I blog for myself and it has become a happy part of documenting my life.
I have a bunch of projects that are near completion that i want to share. I have cute children that need to be photographed and a birthday list that needs pictures.
AND I am almost done with my second sock.
Doesn't it look just like a sock? Well it does and if I had a picture I could show you how it looks like a sock.
I'm the mean time you will just have to take my word that my children are adorable and my hand knitted socks really look like socks.

Funny
This morning I handed jack a blueberry bagel. He sniffed it and tried to hand it back to me. I told him to eat it. He walked over to the trash, threw it in the trash, walked back to me and pointed at the cereal. Which he promptly ate.
Yesterday I told Lilly she was not to come out of her room unless she was bleeding from her ears. She asked for further explanation and I told her unless there was blood pouring from her ears she was not to leave her room. She told me that her ears never bleed and I said EXACTLY.

I am blogging from my iPad tonight. My computer crashed and died and took my pictures and video with it. I don't remember the last time i backed up, so no clue what I still have. While the computer was crashing Lilly got a hold of my iPad and charged $50 to my iTunes account by purchasing gems for her game. It's been a fun week in my world of electronics.

Sewing Machine Cover
I was searching for fabric on Etsy when I found this beautiful Amy Butler fabric:
It was fabric love at first sight. I used the fabric to make a cover for my sewing machine.
I followed the tutorial from this blog.
I plan to make a cover for my cricut with the same fabric.
This cover is the first step to my soon to be craft space in my basement.
p.p.s. Full day kindergarten is the only option here for public schools.

Last week
We had a pretty normal week (knock on wood). A few snow days, some knitting and sewing projects, some soup making, and puzzle doing, all in all very low key. I am sure this will jinx my next week, but I need to document my normal life moments.
Yesterday I participated in a three hour zumbathon. It was a blast. It was three hours of zumba, food, massages and prizes. I can't wait for the next zumbathon!
This coming week Lilly has school, I have some work and craft projects. Hopefully another low key week.
Happy Sunday.

Sock
I knitted my first sock.
Socks are difficult because you knit them on tiny little needles.
It took a really long time.
Now I have to make the other one.

Nap time/Quiet time
It's nap time at my house. Lilly wont take naps anymore, so she has quiet time. Either way it's my time to do what I want. Or what needs to get done. Right now my kitchen really wants to be properly cleaned, especially the floor. The laundry really wants to be folded and put away. The living room is dying to be picked up and presentable and my sewing project really wants to be finished.
I don't really feel like doing any of the above. What I want to do is eat some chocolate pudding and dream of knitting this vintage 1930s sweater.

I just have to figure out how to adjust the pattern to the year 2011. Don't you just love it?

Follow me
Ah, so we meet again February. With your wretched ice, snow, and dreary skies; you will not get the best of me.
Isn't it the month for all things pink, red, and lovely? I can still get through the winter with my head held high as I defeat February.
My plan of attack? Complete denial. I am going to ignore the snow and ice, the sickness, and the bleak sky. I am going to put my head down and stay really busy.
Projects, outings, work, and maybe some trips.
Join me in defeating February by becoming a follower of my blog.
Yes, you're right, that has nothing to do with anything. I just think it's really sad that I only have 9 followers of my blog. Just click on the follow button to the right.
