Historical Fiction Reading Challenge

I happened onto this Historical Fiction challenge.  I am going to attempt it because I really dislike historical fiction and thought that this might change my mind.
I am attempting level 5, "Out of my comfort zone" or reading 2 historical fiction books this year.
The levels range from 2-20 books in 2011. As you can see I am really pushing myself (sarcasm)

Join me in this challenge or at least tell me a historical fiction book that I will love.

so when i was in germany i was sometimes bored and ended up reading a lot. A girl told me to read Orson Scott Card's trilogy about Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel. Anyhow, the one about sarah was interesting. It was interesting to put emotions with a character that doesn't get a lot of attention in the bible but obviously played a huge part.

But if you're looking for a book that's really good... The Book Thief! Long book, but such a lovable character, and fascinating story.

I actually LOVE historical reading when I have the chance to read. My goal right now is to read ONE book this year...and that's pushing it.

I love historical fiction, but it has to be good. I recommend oh so many: The Chosen by Chaim Potok, Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, Pavilion of Women by Pearl S Buck....

How can you not like historical fiction when you come from a family of History maniacs?:) Do cheesy romances count? One that I liked (and it's not even that cheesy) is These Is My Words.

I would love to join you in this challenge. I think I will have time maybe in May or possibly June. If you pick the book, we can read it at the same time and discuss whether it was worth it to get into history :)

Mary Higgins Clark has one about George and Martha Washington. I really liked it!
Being a history major I actually love historical fiction. Sounds strange but after reading nothing but facts, it is nice to read a story! You just can't take it all to seriously, and it is fun to analyze historical fiction and weed out the fiction vs. fact. That part is fun for me! :) Call me crazy, but I just might join you in your challenge.

Oh and how could I forget one of my absolute fav.'s. The Hiding Place! (another world war II book, i find it a fascinating era) It's so inspiring.

Oooh ooh or also in the era, the guernsey literary and potato peel pie society is a fabulous book! Quick read, not too depressing, and awesome characters! So sooo good.
